Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity and Inclusion are the core values of all JES operations. Our founding members and all current faculty members collaboratively cooperate to ensure that all aspiring scientists are treated equally regardless of their biological sex, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, and more. This fundamental principle not only applies to all JES faculty members but also non-JES scientists that we occasionally collaborate or communicate with. Our efforts to advocate for Diversity and Inclusion in STEM can be summarized by several mainstream components:

#1 Non-discrimination Policy in Admissions:

Our Selection Committee--proudly supervised by the Dean of Admissions--actively practices background-blind admissions. We do NOT require our applicants to submit any and all information regarding their personal background; we require minimum information needed for administrative purposes. Furthermore, our Selection Committee do NOT practice ‘cutoff’ modality of admission. We holistically evaluate applicants to completely construe the opportunities that are maximally attainable within each applicant’s context.

Associated Institutions: Branksome Hall Asia Jeju, Korea International School Jeju (Headquarter), North London Collegiate School Jeju, Dulwich College Seoul, Saint Johnsbury Academy Jeju, Daegu International School (Alternative Headquarter)

#2 Non-discrimination Policy in Operations:

Our cohort of Human Resources--proudly supervised by the Director of Operations--ensures non-discrimination in all JES operations. JES supports, and practices, fair-share in all operations and appropriate attributions for all JES faculty members. Our Leadership Training Officer interacts with all faculty members to confirm that workplace and working dynamics at JES are safe, constructive, and collaborative for all. Any and all attempts to discriminate will NOT be tolerated under any circumstances.

#3 Outreach in Diversity and Inclusion:

Our Ambassador and Business Departments collaborate to host various outreach opportunities for pre-collegiate scientists across the world. Our wide-ranging series of webinars, competitions, panel discussions, and other initiatives provide grounds for participation on a global scale. Through regular partnership and sponsorship, the Departments ensure that these scientists presenting noteworthy potential are appropriately awarded--both financially and academically.
